In Youth Detention Center

Life behind bars as told by young offenders
This comic gives a voice to young people who share the feeling of being ignored and abandoned by society. But they have a lot to tell us. About their strong emotional ties to their families. About false friends who want to be paid, and the idea of freedom that begins in the mind. For the time after their arrest, they wish for a kind of ‘reset’, like a computer hard drive where everything can be deleted and started over. But memories cannot be erased – the vicious circle of domestic violence, dropping out of school, lack of prospects, addiction and crime is not so easy to break. These texts, written by the young people themselves, and pictures, drawn by them, are intended to provide insights into their thoughts, without losing sight of the victim’s perspective.
