Fairy Tale Comics

Here are eight of the Brothers Grimm’s tales, retold in comic strip fashion by Rotraut Susanne Berner. As it turns out this clever transformation into a contemporary art form provides an effective way of introducing children to these fairy tales, which are as lively and engrossing today as they were two hundred years ago.

Mother Hulda, Jorinda and Jorindel, Hans in Luck, Little Red Riding Hood, Tom Thump, Rapunzel, Hans-my-Hedghog and The Frog King or Iron Henry – once the short texts have been read to them, small children will be able to „read“ and retell these classic tales time and again, with a little help from the illustrations. Here’s a fairy tale bonanza to please adults and children alike. And to top things off, there’s a big surprise at the end!
