The Earthgang consists of ten children (between10 and 13 years old) from all over the world, Professor Morgenstern, his dog Nelson and English teacher Emma Thompson. They are on a mission: Get to understand the world and make it a better place!
On their first excursion, a visit to the harbour in Hamburg, the children learn far more than the teachers had planned for. One of the pupils, Sinan, comes across a gang of smugglers and one of the others, Ben, gets caught up in one of those large sea containers. Luckily they all return safely. They have not only had an exciting adventure but also got to see how things work in a big International harbour. And they now know all about smuggling, piracy in the oceans, the work of the harbour police and about the pain of the refugees.
Ingrid Harrison is originally a non-fiction author and this book benefits highly from that, because all the places and situations are researched really well and all the details are exact. And still it reads like an adventure book. A wonderful combination!Download the factsheet with all specifications
